TDUGC-Seniors

Teesside & District Union of Golf Clubs – Seniors

TDUGC Senior matches are played between April and August.

The Senior League started in 2012 but Middlesbrough Golf Club did not enter. Following changes to the format the club decided to enter the league for 2013. The fixtures run weekly on a home and away basis, from 11th May to 18th July 2016. A detailed list of fixtures is given below.

The format will be 4 Ball Better Ball Match play. The lowest handicap player to concede strokes to the other three players based on 90% difference (2016) between the handicaps. Strokes to be taken according to the stroke index on the card.

Each club will provide a team of 12 players to play in pairs at the discretion of each club.

Each match will compromise of 6 individual matches. Each match to complete 18 holes and points will be awarded on the following basis:-

• Two points for a win and one point for a half for each individual match

• The winning team based on holes up basis to be awarded bonus points. Winning home team 1 bonus point, winning away team 2 bonus points. In the case of a tie the away team to receive 1 bonus point.

The individual points and the bonus points will be added together to be points for that match.

Maximum handicap of 24 will apply. However players with a handicap greater than 24 may be considered for selection but must play off a 24 handicap.

The winners of the league will be the club that accumulates the most number of points in all the matches. In the case of a tie the number of away bonus points will decide the winner. If still a tie the number of home bonus points will decide the winner. If still a tie the Executive will decide on the next course of action.

All competitors must be 55 years of age or over prior to any match they are selected for and have an active handicap.

Matches to be played from the white tees.

Food will be at the players own cost and there will be no formalities.

I will post an “Interest Sheet” at the end of January for those who wish to be considered for these competitive matches.
